Autumn

October 3, 2008 flowerfarmer

After a summer season of gardening, I’m ready for fall so I can put the garden to bed.  As much as I love flowers, the late fall and winter give me more time to read and sew.  Working on a birthday quilt for my brother to be given next summer.  Finishing Dream of Scipio by Iain Pears which is fascinating, and started American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld and find it kind of boring so far.

wow, your page is beautiful! and thanks for the reminder about the pluses of fall. Biking is kind of like gardening, I guess. Yesterday we spent several hours in the Ravenswood neighborhood on their art walk, which was a lot of fun. During the may-sept time of year, we’re always away, biking on country roads. it’s a treat to start enjoying chicago again.

What a beautiful blog, almost a pretty as some of the flowers you share. Do you do anything special to the ground of your garden (special types of mulching?)
